Postal Service Letters FROM Santa Program

Keeps Children’s Holiday Spirit Alive

Great Photo Opportunity to Treasure for Years

 Santa Stamp

NORTH POLE — Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. And the Postal Service can help you prove it when Santa replies to your child’s letter to Santa — complete with a North Pole postmark!

Here are the steps for your child to get a letter back from Santa:

  1. Have your child write a letter to Santa and seal it in an envelope addressed to: Santa Claus, North Pole.
  2. Tell your child that you’ll place a stamp on the envelope and mail it to St. Nick for him or her.
  3. Later, when alone, open the envelope, read the letter and write Santa’s response on the back of the child’s letter. Have Santa write: “It’s important to be green and save paper. That’s why I’m writing on the back.”
  4. When responding as Santa, reference your child’s accomplishments not included in his or her letter, i.e., Santa is so proud that you volunteered to help ____, or Santa is really impressed with the great job you’re doing in school — especially with math, etc. Sign it Santa Claus with a P.S. to get to bed early Christmas Eve.
  5. Place the letter into a new envelope addressed to the child at his or her home. Be sure to include: Santa Claus, North Pole, as the return address on the envelope. Don’t forget to apply a First-Class stamp — such as a recently issued Santa or Rudolph Forever stamp.
  6. Place the stamped envelope in a larger envelope (or Priority Mail envelope) with adequate postage addressed to:

  1. Letters from Santa must be received by the Anchorage, AK, Postmaster no later than Dec. 15, 2014.
  2. The Anchorage Postmaster will open the envelope, remove Santa’s letter addressed to your child, apply the North Pole postmark and mail it back home.
  3. When Santa’s letter arrives, have your camera ready when you ask your child to open the letter and read it to you.
  4. Share the photos on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #SantaLetters. Keep the letters and the photos in a scrapbook as a great family keepsake.

The Letters to Santa program adds to the excitement of Christmas and is perfect for interesting youngsters in letter writing.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.

Disney’s Planes: Fire & Rescue

Planes Fire Rescue Poster

“Planes: Fire & Rescue” is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire.

When world-famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting.

Dusty joins forces with veteran fire-and-rescue helicopter Blade Ranger (voice of Ed Harris) and his courageous team, including spirited air tanker Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter (voice of Wes Studi), ex-military transport Cabbie (voice of Captain Dale Dye) and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers.

Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

Directed by Bobs Gannaway (“Secret of the Wings”) and produced by Ferrell Barron (“The Fox and the Hound 2”),

“Planes: Fire & Rescue” hits theaters in 3D on July 18, 2014.

One Year Later…

I should be sleeping.

It is after all, nearly 1:00 in the morning.

But for the first time in a long time, I actually feel like writing.

On my blog of all places.

I almost thought I had given it up.

It has been a year today (well, technically I guess that would be yesterday now) that Daddy was laid to rest.  Losing him devastated me.  And the year since…  Well, I’ve taken it one step at a time.

I started a new venture, that while still really new, is doing pretty well.  Not big-time well, but a successful start.  It has taken a lot of focus and a lot of my time.

And Banan’s 2nd grade year hasn’t gone exactly as expected.  There’s a lot of mixed feelings as we prepare for our busy summer and 3rd grade in the fall.  It has been a different experience for me.

I hadn’t completely forsaken my writing, just realized what little I have written, has been on my personal Facebook page.  I think I may share a little piece of that over the coming days.

It was looking through email, which I’ve also somewhat forsaken, that I saw so much blog related “stuff” – PR reps reaching out, Easter content ideas, review requests, emails from blog friends, deals & coupons, and just a lot of misc bloggy things – that made me think about the blog tonight… and I just felt like touching base.  No promises of regular posting, but I will when I feel up to it and am not bogged down by the other stuff of life.  (That stuff I keep thinking I’ll blog about, but am too busy doing it to write about it.)

As I write tonight, though, I realize I’ve missed it.

Prince Lionheart Wheely Bug Ride-On Toy

Prince Lionheart Wheely Bugs

Prince Lionheart

Prince Lionheart’s super popular wheelyBUGS ride on toys are perfect for little legs desiring to explore the world around them.  wheelyBUGS ride on toys encourage development of gross motor skills while having heaps of fun.  They are entirely non toxic and contain no pvc.  Little bums will love the 1″ layer of soft sponge while parents will appreciate the tough PU covering so little accidents are easy to clean. The bold, colorful wheelies come in a variety of designs including bumble bee, ladybug, pig, tiger, cow and mouse.

The Prince Lionheart wheelyBUGS come in two sizes.  The small (1.5 yrs+) retails for $75 and the large (3 yrs+) retails for $85, but you can catch them at a better deal in baby stores or at Amazon.com (which has a pretty amazing price + free shipping as of this posting!).

In my personal opinion, the Prince Lionheart wheelyBUGS are so adorable!   Plus, they are lots of fun and COMFORTABLE with all that cushioning (as opposed to the typical hard plastic ride-on toys).

A Prince Lionheart wheelyBUG would make a super cute Valentines Gift to that special little one in your life!

A wheelyBUG was provided to Mile A Minute Mama courtesy of Prince Lionheart to help facilitate this feature.

Happy New Year & Back To Rountines

I’m hearing “back to life… back to reality” playing in my head as I write this.

I’ve been on an unscheduled hiatus pretty much the entire time Banan was on Christmas break.

I know I’m going to pay dearly for it as I get back to work and to routines and basically real life.

But you know what?

I think it was worth it.

I am packing up the last of Christmas today, though I need to pull out everything on one side of the shed so Christmas can go to the very back.  Not going to need that for a while.

And that won’t happen today, because even down here in warm sunny Florida, it. is. COLD.

We should be getting back to something of a normal over the next few days, so that’s gonna be a fun task.

(Not really.)

My big goal for 2014 is to MINIMIZE.

I hold on to more than I really need to and in general we just have way too much stuff.

I figure the less stuff, the less I have to deal with, clean, etc.  And the more room it’ll free up.

I also plan to get on the eat healthier, exercise, lose weight, blah, blah bandwagon.  I have a gym membership that’s just begging to be used.

Our big plan for this year is an addition to the house!

I’m just a tiny bit uncontrollably excited about that!

We plan to add-on a Living Room, and what I am most excited about is that it’ll change the shape of the house, as well as it’s “curb appeal”.  I completely hate both as-is right now, so this is going to be awesome.

The “trickle-down” effect of a new Living Room will be that the current Living Room will become the Dining Room (hello larger Dining Room!) and the current Dining Room will allow us to enlarge the kitchen & create pantry space.  Also thinking about putting in French doors off the kitchen.  Not sure if all that will happen in 2014, but the majority of it should.

The downside is that I’m kinda in limbo as far as redecorating some of the living spaces and current projects we are in the middle of.  No real point in that until the addition is built so that furniture & décor can be purchased according to the new spaces.

We will also be pulling up the carpet and putting in new flooring and a new bed in the Master Bedroom, getting rid of a bulky piece of furniture that doesn’t serve its purpose well and doing a little rearranging.  That will all breathe fresh life into the Master Bedroom.

So excited about all these changes for the house this year!!

What’s on the horizon for you this year?
